I've never had someone quite so excited for a session as Kristine was!

She pored over her schedule to find a date and time that aligned with my schedule (and vice versa!). After much back and forth finally found a date that worked for everyone! When you have a blended family, sometimes finagling schedules can be tricky! She let me know when she had figured out the outfits for her session and could hardly contain her excitement before the session. That's pretty dreamy when you're the photographer! :)

Laughter was certainly the defining aspect of my busy fall season in 2021 and this session was no exception! The fun started the second we met up at a local Black Forest park. This sweet family didn't even try to hide all the BIG, crazy love and laughter they share together. There was no shortage of hilarious candid moments to capture. One of my favorites was asking the two girls to "Do the John" and copy their stoic older brother's expression - which made him laugh a bit - I love when we can work a bit of humor out of a cool teenager. :) He was an awesome young man and his sisters made it so easy to take fun poses! They had the spinning idea and it turned out so cute!

Mom and dad had an undeniable love and affection for each other - clearly best friends! With these two, I'd guide them into their pose, and then they would take it from there. I would just press the shutter while they enjoyed one another's company. That is honestly my favorite way to capture the love between couples and families!

This delightful blended family proves that family is so much more than blood. Love is so much more than genetics. Family are the people we choose to surround ourselves with, and I feel so blessed to have peeked in on this amazing family on a brisk December afternoon!
