The summer of '23 will go down in history as one of the rainiest EVER - it was a literal miracle I had to reschedule almost no sessions, and this senior session in particular!
One tricky thing about planning photo sessions in the Colorado Springs area is that while it may be sunny and dry in one place, it could be pouring rain in another. This is exactly what happened this summer with Amelia and Finley's senior session. At their hotel in downtown Colorado Springs, it was absolutely pouring. Options for rescheduling were limited on both ends. But the hourly forecast looked promising, so we went for it, and I'm sure glad Amelia and Finley's mom trusted me! We arrived at their first location - the beautiful bridge at the Olympic Training Center museum downtown - and it was DRY. The rain has missed this spot! Hallelujah! Despite the looming storm clouds making the sky dreary, we took advantage of the beautiful florals along the sidewalk, the stairs leading up to the bridge, and of course the bridge itself with its stunning views of downtown and Pikes Peak.
Thankfully the clouds began to clear once we made it to High Point Overlook at Garden of the Gods! We had a beautiful sunset and used every drop of the time we had to create lots of beautiful and fun moments for Amelia and Finley. I was so glad they had an outfit change planned, because this adds so much variety to their gallery and allows them to show off their personality even more! The girls had a casual outfit for their first location, did a few photos in these outfits at the second location, and then changed into a more formal look. This is the perfect combination of outfits, along with letter jackets (which Finley wore at the first location for a set of photos) and uniforms when applicable.
This was the first session I was a full associate photographer for. Amelia and Finley are clients of the talented Sarah Arnold Photography, and Sarah was literally giving birth to her daughter while we were doing this session! <3 Fun fact: this was also on my birthday, so I have the pleasure of sharing a birthday with Sarah's sweet little one. It was truly an honor to be trusted with these photos when Sarah was unable to be there in person. I delivered the photos to her for editing in her own style, and she delivered those to the clients. The photos you see here are my edits, which she graciously has allowed me to use for my own portfolio! I don't associate shoot often, but I'm so glad I had the opportunity to photograph some more seniors, and Amelia and Finley were SO much fun, and SO easy to work with. They gave me so many incredible poses that it was very difficult to narrow down their photos after our session!
