It's no secret or surprise that fall is the most popular time of year for family photos in Colorado Springs.
The temperatures are cooler. The kids are back in school and your family is staying put for a while. The trees and foliage are turning to beautiful shade of yellow, orange, and red! The holidays are approaching and it's time to think about those cards. Better get in touch with your photographer!
Hopefully you didn't ACTUALLY wait until it's already fall to book, as those coveted weekend dates are likely already booked, but if you did, don't worry - your photographer will do their best to find a date that works for all of you! Truth be told, we often squeeze more into and out of our fall schedule than we probably should because we LOVE our clients and want to make sure you make these memories!
If you're wondering where the best places are for photos in the area throughout the fall season, I got you boo! Here are some favorites I love to suggest to clients.
Cripple Creek
The aspens up in Cripple Creek are absolutely stunning, usually around the end of September or early October. It's absolutely worth the drive from Colorado Springs to surround yourselves in the golden glow of aspens in the evening! The results are always incredible!
Divide
A little closer than Cripple Creek, I know of some trails in the area that have beautiful aspens in easy-to-access locations. The peak time for this area is typically late September to early October.
Fox Run Park
Further north in the Colorado Springs area, you'll want to head to Fox Run earlier in the season to catch the few aspens around the lakes before their leaves fall. Plan to visit in early October to ensure you don't miss the color!
Garden of the Gods
Known primarily for its incredible red rock formations and eye popping mountain views, some parts of the park also feature beautiful autumn color! I know just the right spots to go for fall family or senior photos.
Bear Creek Park
Bear Creek Park in Colorado Springs is stunning in the fall! There are multiple locations within the park that showcase beautiful deciduous trees that love to show off in the fall! Color here will peak a bit later than mountain locations, though specific timing depends upon the year's weather conditions. Typically mid to late October is prime time for the south side of Colorado Springs.
Fountain Creek Park
For later-season fall color, Fountain Creek park rarely disappoints. Filled with huge cottonwoods, as long as the weather cooperates the trees love to show off their color typically from late October through early November. Every year is a little different, and an early snow/freeze can affect the color.
