You know it's going to be an amazing session when:
- Mom re-arranges the family's schedule as much as possible because she absolutely wants YOU to be the photographer.
- As soon as you meet the family the day of the session, you're all laughing within a couple of minutes.
- The family spends the entire session being entirely themselves.
All of this and SO much more defined this wonderful session with the Blanquie Family! This family of five clearly love each other to pieces. Their loyalty may be defined by their history of military service - dad is retired, and son Raiden was home visiting for the holidays after recently enlisting for service. When teenagers are involved in a session, one of two things usually happens - stubbornness emerges (I understand - that was me as a teen!) or hilarity ensues. Thankfully, Raiden and his sisters Kasey and Naphtali had plenty of humor to bring to the table. :) There was never a dull moment during the hour we all spent together and I made sure to capture as much of it as possible.
One thing I strive for as a photographer is to capture you as YOU are! The love, the laughter, whatever happens. This family made that incredibly easy!
Mom and Dad shared many sweet moments, intertwined with their own flavor of humor - it was obvious where the kids got it from! And as a family unit the laughter was even stronger.
Such a gorgeous early winter afternoon at Garden of the Gods. The sun was shining through a thin layer of perfect clouds. Pikes Peak boasted a light coat of snow. Rich color surrounded us and the temperature was unseasonably warm. But the greatest warmth came from the strength and love of the Blanquie family. Thank you for sharing your family and your teenagers with me - as a toddler mama and former middle school teacher I seriously enjoy getting to laugh with teens again. Spending time with your loving family inspires me to let loose and laugh with my own sweet people at home! I hope you enjoy your photos as much as I enjoyed our session together!
