I met Lindsay and her four energetic boys a couple of years ago doing fall mini sessions here in Colorado Springs. What a joy it was to meet her fiance to celebrate their engagement at beautiful Glen Eyrie Castle!
Dave arrived first to the session, and I enjoyed listening to him tell me how he and Lindsay met and fell in love while we waited for her to arrive with the boys. Lindsay used to travel frequently for work, and both she and Dave were traveling home to their respective states (Washington and Colorado) from Florida when Lindsay was the last person on the flight home. As there were some extra seats, Dave offered around to let someone join him in his row since there were two empty seats, and Lindsay accepted his offer. She fully intended to settle into her usual flight routine of putting in her ear buds and trying to nap, but she and Dave struck up a conversation that lasted the entire flight, and the rest, as they say, is history! That was three years ago. These two love birds have been maintaining a long-distance relationship since then, with Dave in Seattle with his two girls and Lindsay here in Colorado with her four boys. Now they are finally preparing to join households, with an upcoming August wedding in Seattle before Dave moves out here to join Lindsay, this time for good!
So we celebrated this blending of families on a lovely spring evening at Glen Eyrie Castle. With absolutely dreamy light created by the setting sun and plenty of wispy clouds, we gathered most of Dave & Lindsay's family together (the girls were unable to be here unfortunately) for family photos with the magical castle and stunning grounds as a backdrop. I loved seeing Lindsay's boys again, and remembered their unique personalities from two years ago - teenager Tristan with his dry humor and absolutely perfect interpretations of my posing instructions; funny Miles with his big grin, boisterous personality, and always keeping me on my toes with his unique expressions and poses; Dapper Kayden in his adorable suit he had been dying to wear for weeks, and the Batman bow tie mom let him wear for some of the photos; and little Lane, all boy through and through and yet just the sweetest little guy ever. When they weren't running amok seeking out sticks or trying to climb all over rocks and such (while Dave & Lindsay worked hard to wrangle them and keep their clothes from the damage which would surely ensue) they posed just perfectly with their parents, but I made sure that some shutter clicks captured those spicy personalities shining through!
And Dave & Lindsay were a dream. They are so in love and it resonates in each and every one of their photos. The way they look at each other, they fill each other with peace and hope and excitement for the future. They are best friends through and through. Lindsay's gorgeous engagement ring was her grandmother's - which made perfect sense when a moment before learning this I mentioned how classic it is! Lindsay also asked me to capture their matching anchor tattoos on their wrists - a reminder to each of them that together, they are anchored in Christ. I love that so much, and know that with Him at the center of their relationship and family, their home and family will be truly blessed! I had so much fun exploring Glen Eyrie with these two and celebrating their love in beautiful posed moments as well as candid moments that truly help their personalities and love for each other shine through in unique ways.
Dave & Lindsay, what a joy it was to document this very special chapter in your lives as you prepare to become One! What a beautiful family y'all have created together. Thank you so much for trusting me with these precious memories and letting me hang out with you and your boys again. It's truly a blessing every time we get together and I am SO excited to see your wedding photos from Seattle and then see your lives come together here in Colorado, this time forever! Praying for you guys!!!
