What could possibly be more magical and adorable than snuggling up to an adorable, real live bunny for your spring or Easter photo session?

I submit to you that nothing, nothing could possibly be more adorable. :) For the past two years, I have been blessed here in Colorado Springs to watch the sweet reactions of kids (and sometimes their parents too!) as they fall in love. People can't resist my bunnies' little twitching noses, stroking their incredibly soft fur, and they light up with delight as a bunny nibbles a carrot from their fingers. The adorable spring outfits. The beauty of an early spring day. These sessions have been absolutely wonderful! Keep reading to learn about what these sessions are like, how we prepare our bunnies for your time together, and some tips on preparing your kids!

Two years ago, the first bunnies I ever had were just babies and enjoyed being loved on by kids of all ages. Cocoa and Clover are sisters and different as can be, But they both made for perfectly adorable photos! Last year I introduced you all to Coriander (known around home as Kory) and even more people fell in love with his sweet, carrot-chomping little self! I choose bunnies carefully to ensure everyone has a positive interaction! As of the writing of this blog we own 10 adorable bunnies (at the height of our hutch, it was 17! Thanks to two litters of babies in 2022! Cocoa was the mama of one of those litters!). Not all of them want to snuggle up to people and eat treats from their hands. We do our best to respect the wishes and personalities of our bunnies, and in the future will always have at least two bunnies at these photo sessions so they can take a break every couple of families. Bunnies are sensitive animals and being in photos is a lot for them! I only bring the ones that are best-suited to being handled (and sometimes even man-handled a little) by kids. We spend time with our bunnies on a regular basis, sitting on the ground and letting them hop over, on, and around us, hand-feeding them to help them be more comfortable with touch. This also helps us figure out which ones are more brave, outgoing and willing to be handled, and which bunnies are more shy and prefer to have space from people.

At your bunny session, you'll always get to pet a bunny. We never force them onto anyone's laps, and we try to keep them right up close to you with carrots and yummy treats. The bunny will often start out in a basket, so it feels safe and secure, and then midway through your session we'll gently remove the bunny and encourage closer-up interactions. Your safety, as well as the safety, well-being, and preferences of our animals are the top priority when doing a session with live animals. I always suggest wearing something that you won't be devastated if it gets a hole (we do our best to keep claws trimmed, but things happen, and bunnies will occasionally nibble on nearby objects!) or a stain (it's never happened yet, but it could)! In my session reminder emails I provide clients tips on how to teach your children to gently stroke a rabbit from head to tail, with a very soft touch, and suggest practicing on a stuffed animal before your session day. As your photographer, and my bunnies' loving owner, I will do everything possible to ensure that your live bunny photo session is a positive experience for everyone and that you have treasured spring memories to enjoy for years to come!
