When you flip through your yearbooks, there are probably some places that you see pop up in just about everyone’s senior photos (Garden of the Gods anyone? No offense to those who use this location - it’s stunning and there are so many options!). If you’re looking to stand out in your senior photos, finding a unique location is a good first step.

United States Olympic Training Center Museum

If you like an urban vibe but also like a clean and simple backdrop, this is such an amazing location. The bridge here, between the museum and America the Beautiful Park, is an awesome display of unique architecture in light neutral tones that help you really stand out against the background. I love framing my subjects in the unique curvature of the bridge. Turn to the left or right and you get train tracks and possibly passing trains in your background, along with the cityscape! At the western end of the bridge you get Pikes Peak and mountain views. The stairs leading up to the bridge on the western side are also a fun place to take photos. At just the bridge there is an abundance of opportunities, and that doesn’t even include possibilities around the museum building itself!

MEDDINGS FARM

This small, local farm owned by my good friends is perfect for anyone who loves a rustic vibe. The red barn dates back to the late 1800s and the front is not red but unpainted, well-maintained vintage wood. The family will stage a tractor for you upon request and there are 10 acres of opportunity to include wildflower meadows in the summer and the ponderosa pine forest as a backdrop. If you’re lucky there may even be barn kittens who come out to join you for your session! Rustic wood fences and beautiful sunsets just add to the magic you can experience when you do your senior session at Meddings Farm, just a short drive north from Colorado Springs off of County Line Road.

HELEN HUNT FALLS

Avoiding crowds here can be difficult, but well worth the effort. As your adventurous photographer I always prepare to let my feet get wet to capture epic photos in front of these falls while still respecting the fact that this is a water source for the city of Colorado Springs. The beautiful stone stairway leading up to trails from the falls is also a beautiful background for photos! Farther down from the falls, the creek is a beautiful place to take some awesome photos that are unique and fun! Splash around a little, sit on the shore and dip your feet in, or just pose among the lovely nature of Cheyenne Canon. Possibilities abound!

Whatever your vision is for your senior session, I can help you find the perfect location to match. These are photos you and your family will look back on for years to come, so you want them to be as unique and special as you are! Choose the location that best suits YOU - even if that is Garden of the Gods. ;)
